[it had been an interesting first week here in Luceti for one of the newcomers. between a birthday party, meeting gods and mortals alike from all sorts of different universes, realizing the gap between himself and his longtime rival and friend was a large one at that, and learning all that he needed to know about the Malnosso and the Third Party alike... Goku had one thing in mind. get stronger, learn the secrets of shifting and hopefully use that power against the ones keeping them here and against the enemies that would destroy him and his loved ones. nothing would ever sway him from that goal.

but right now he knew that it wouldn't be enough- with only half of his power at the ready, he needed to train harder. not only to catch up to Vegeta, but to retain that former strength he once had. it was going to take quite some time, but if anyone could make it happen, it was Goku. and right now he's currently sitting on the roof of the fourth community house, opening the journal and giving the people of Luceti a friendly grin]

Hey everyone! I don't think I've gotten a chance to meet everyone here yet, but my name is Goku! I've got a favor to ask if anyone would like to help me out here.

See, I'm going to train so that one day we can properly take out the Malnosso and the Third Party and I can't exactly do much by myself for long. I know we've got a long way to go and they're really dangerous, [as he got the gears from Saori for when he first arrived] but that's exactly why I want to be ready for them when it's time to save everyone.

So! Who wants to have a spar? I wouldn't mind testing myself against some of the other real strong fighters here. And if you're not that strong, that's fine too if you want someone to train with.

We're all in this together, after all!

You wanna lead the way this time? It's my first time being in here, actually.

[She heads inside at a brisk pace and walks over to the computer console, tapping out a few commands.]

This is where you'd set up anything you want to do. It's...a little difficult for me, but I have been practicing. I'm sure if you fiddle with it you'll be able to work out ways to train on your own, too.

[don't mind Goku as he's just peering over your shoulder there, 'kay? 'kay]

Ohhh... That's neat! Kind of like how I trained in a hundred times normal gravity on the way to Namek...

[oh, pardon him. he's getting a little nostalgic there!]

Alrighty! [he takes a couple steps back from her, not getting into a fighter's stance just yet as he started with stretching out his legs] Nice and simple, down to basics, right?

[She listens to that with an interested nod. Extra gravity was one thing that some in Heaven claimed could increase ability. She'd never tried it, but it was an intriguing idea...]

Yes, let's go into a training room, then.

[She leads the way through a small door and into a simulation of a room with a training mat. Gesturing, she takes a position at one side of a large painted circle and stretches her arm before taking a basic, open palmed stance.]

You can feel it, can't you? You're completely and utterly human here, as am I. Everything else is suppressed. So, come at me with everything you have.

[as Goku follows, he can feel his power level dropping drastically. but before he could even so much as question what was going on despite the look of bewilderment on his face, the Saiyan was answered by Saori's stance across the way. so this was how it felt... his power level must have been...well, he didn't care for the scouters since they never really could measure true strength. but for the sake of the exercise? he and Saori were likely sitting at 10 or so. what was stranger was that he couldn't even sense anything anymore. it was like everything was shut out entirely. the thought was...intriguing, but it admittedly felt weird. but seeing the goddess across the way from him, ready to go, he had to admit that it was easier to focus on his martial arts skills when nothing else was distracting him]

Wow... Alright, you bet! If we're both the same, I really won't have to hold anything back.

Get ready! I may not be a Super Saiyan, but I've been taught by a lot of great people.

[and you're about to learn another lesson, Goku. it wasn't cockiness on his part. just...blissful ignorance? but as he suddenly rushes her, making mental notes not to impulsively try and fly towards her as he lost that ability, his steps are light and swift as he watches those open palms of hers. defensive? or what kind of style did Saori have in mind? opting to test the waters, he decides to go for a firm fist, aimed out for her chest as he firmly plants his feet]

Hyah!!

That's fine. I've been trained by my uncle, the god of war himself.

[She watches him with calculating eyes, analyzing his motions and judging his most likely pattern of attack. He's a lot like Vegeta, she knew that much, but she didn't quite figure him for the brute force type of fighter. When he moves, she figures that she's guessed right. He's more cautious, not throwing his weight at her like Vegeta does.

And that's just fine with her.

She moves forward and to one side, her palm neatly batting aside his fist while her fingers curl gently around his wrist, giving a tug that forces him to overbalance. She follows this up with a short, sharp sweep of her foot into his extended leg that should send him falling forward with her standing a pace behind him. It's not that he's ignorant, no. It's that this is breaking new ground for him, while she's already had painful lessons in fighting without her powers.]

[and of course, while Goku's reflexes were still sharp, he didn't have the inhuman speed from before that would have let him properly counter Saori's attack. which is exactly why,] Woah--GAAH!! [he was swept forward and...!]

OOF!

[faceplant]

[She turns and decides not to press the attack while he's on the ground. This is for fun, after all.]

You're really going to have to try a lot harder than that, Goku. I see that you really do rely on your powers.

[it doesn't take him long to recover from that, a kip-up later and he's back on his feet. he won't deny that he got trounced, but the gravity of the situation hit him quickly too. and in a way, it made him feel...nostalgia? he'd always been strong. but not as godlike as he had been in his previous battles that shook the very planet. but at one point? he may as well have been human...]

It's been a while since I've felt like this. Don't worry, Saori. I'll get used to this.

[his stance gets lower this time, more crouched with an arm raised behind him and his front hand low to the ground. as if he was ready to lunge]

[She nods at him while he stands, and offers up a wry smile.]

I know. But that doesn't mean it's easy. Believe me, this is a lot more fun than learning how to while fighting.

[She takes her own stance, this one a bit lower, right leg facing him while her left extends behind her into an almost crouch. And again, she waits.]
